With the new ARM CPU released late last year for Windows PCS and laptops, we’ve now confirmed that the Plustek OpticFilm series scanners (OpticFilm 8100/ OpticFilm 8200i AI/ and OpticFilm 135i) are currently not compatible with Windows 10/ 11 computers running on ARM CPU architecture such as Snapdragon X series CPU, e.g., Surface Laptop 13.8/ 15, Surface Pro, etc., or other PC/ laptops from other manufacturers running ARM CPU.
If the customer tries to use these scanners on a Windows PC/ Laptop with ARM CPU, the PC/ Laptop will not recognise the scanner even though the driver will install, and they will not be able to scan.
The Plustek OpticFilm series is compatible with existing X86/ X64 CPU architecture (such as those currently released by Intel and AMD) and specifically on ARM CPUs from Apple for Mac, such as the M1-M4 series CPU.
An updated driver version compatible with ARM CPUs on Windows is planned for release in May 2025 at the earliest, with completed support planned by Q3 at the latest.
