The Scouting movement is the largest youth movement in the
world. Scouts Australia is a multicultural, non-political
and non-denominational, uniformed youth organisation. Young
people (boys and girls) can join at any age between 6 and
26 years. Scouting helps young people meet and conquer challenges
and enables them to develop a sense of personal self worth
and confidence.
Scouting is a growing world wide youth movement with over
25 million members and over 80,000 in Australia. Scouting
focuses on young people from six to 26 years of age and provides
them with opportunities for fun and adventure as well as helping
them to develop skills gain self- confidence and learn teamwork
and initiative.
Young males and females can progress through the five Scouting
sections - Joey Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts, Venturer Scouts
and Rovers or can start in any section depending on their

gain maturity and experience, they are encouraged to take

own activities.

YOUNG PEOPLE IN SCOUTING ARE GIVEN THE
OPPORTUNITY TO DEVELOP
SAFE ENVIRONMENT
All activities are under the supervision of proffessionally
trained adults who care about the positive development of
young people and their role in Australia's future.
The Scout Association is commited to the protection of children
and was the first youth organisation to have a policy requiering
that all adult leaders undergo a Police check and clearance
prior to being accepted as a Leader in Scouting.
Adult Leaders, Assistant Leaders, Parent Helpers and a Group
Committee are made up from volunteer parents from within the
group, other family members, neighbors, friends or community
members. All leaders have to go through a rigourous and detailed
training and vigourous scrutinisation, as well as the police
check and approval by the Scouting Authorities.
