Health Effects:
Swallowed: Pain in swallowing, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting
Eye: Irritant
Skin: Irritant. Prolonged contact with moist skin can poduce severe irritations or burns
Inhaled: Irritant to the respiratory tract. Causes sore throat, coughing and shortness of breath.
Chronic: Prolonged intake may cause headache, confusion, tremors, memory loss, slurred speech, anorexia and acne-form skin eruptions.
First Aid
If swallowed: wash mouth thoroughly with plenty of water and give water or milk to drink. Get medical attention immediately
Eye: irrigate with copious amounts of water for 15 minutes. Seek medical assistance if symptoms persist.
Skin: remove contaminated clothing and wash the affected area with water, then soap and water for at least 15 minutes. Wash clothing before re-use. Get medical attention if irritation persists.
Inhalation: In case of dust inhalation or breathing fumes released from heated material, remove person to fresh air. Keep them quiet and warm. Apply artificial respiration if necessary and get medical attention immediately.
Engineering Controls: Avoid generating and inhaling dusts.
Personal Protection: Overalls, effective eye protection, gloves and dust mask if dust is likely to be encountered.
Flammability: Non flammable
Storage and Transport:
Stable under normal conditions. Avoid heating above 800 deg C.
Spills & Disposal
Spills: Evacuate area. Wear respirator, chemical safety goggles, rubber boots and heavy rubber gloves. Sweep up, place in bag and hold for waste disposal. Avoid raising dust. Ventilate area and wash spill site after material pick up is complete.
Disposal: Put into large vessel containing water and drain into sewer with ample water. Observe all federal, state or local regulations when disposing of this substance
Fire/Explosion Hazard
When strongly heated, emits highly toxic fume.
Incompatible with strong acids, oxidising agents, heavy metal salts and bromine trifluoride.
Extinguishing media: Material is not combustible. If involved in fire, use extinguishing media appropriate to surrounding conditions.
Special Fire Fighting Procedures or Hazards: Cool containers with water spray. In closed stores, provide fire fighters with self-contained breathing apparatus in positive pressure mode.
